Prime Wheel

Click the wheel to show 3 images of the "prime number wheel". The first 2 images show a wheel constructed using the first 72 prime numbers, starting at the top and ordered clockwise. The 2nd image includes labels for prime numbers. The 3rd image shows a prime wheel using the first 2000 prime numbers. Note that the spokes tend to be close together for the smaller angles which is a well known characteristic of prime numbers (the "thinning" of the primes"). An arbitrary gradual color gradient from blue (for the smaller primes) to red (for the larger primes) is used in analogy with the color of optical wavelengths (shorter wavelengths are blue ... longer wavelengths are red). The 3rd image covers the 2000 primes in number range from 2 to 17,389 and includes 4 quadrant counts for the exact number of primes in these quadrants, clearly showing the slow decline of the prime number distribution.
